  • Volunteer

The Holy Assumption Food Pantry serves hundreds of local men, women, and children each month and relies on generous volunteers to make that happen. We need volunteers both during Food Pantry hours and on other days.

Volunteers are needed two hours before, during, and for a half hour after the Food Pantry is open. These volunteers do a little bit of everything: sorting donations, portioning bulk items, stocking (and re-stocking) available food, checking in and assisting clients, cleaning the facility, maintaining food safety, and carrying bags of food up stairs for clients.

Volunteers are also needed outside of Food Pantry hours. On Tuesday afternoons and some Wednesday morning, the Food Pantry receives a large donation that volunteers take downstairs and sort. On Thursday mornings, and especially Thursday evenings, volunteers are needed to transport and sort fresh produce donations from the West Allis Farmer's Market. Volunteers also pick up donations from local businesses as needed

If you are interested in volunteering for the Holy Assumption Food Pantry or would like more information, please contact Sharon Huizenga at 414-774-4241. We welcome volunteers from any parish, as well as from the community at large!

  • Donate

Thank you for helping us to provide food for our neighbors in need!

Please place your non-perishable food and toiletry donations in the back of the church before any Mass at any of our three parishes. If you would like to make a donation outside of Mass times, make a donation of fresh or frozen food, or make a large donation, such as from a business, please contact Sharon Huizenga at 414-774-4241 or the parish office at 414-774-3010 or holyassumption@westalliscatholic.org.

We also welcome monetary donations, which we use for items from Feeding America and to purchase items such as milk, eggs, and fresh fruit that are typically not donated in sufficient quantities. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can place an envelope with cash or a check in your collection basket, drop it off at the Holy Assumption parish office, or mail it to Holy Assumption. Please note on the envelope that it is a Holy Assumption Food Pantry donation. Please write out checks to Holy Assumption Catholic Church and note Food Pantry on the memo line.

    Thank you for your generosity!

  • Latest Updates

November provided an opportunity to offer something special to our clients for their Thanksgiving Day dinners. 22 families got a turkey; 33 a roasting chicken; 10 a ham; and 2 received a pan of lasagna. We assembled green bean casserole kits  complete with instructions for the oven, the stove-top, and the microwave. In the months to come we will offer chili kits with spices from Penzey’s. In past years these kits have been very popular. This month we provided for 771 client visits which included 237 children, 262 women, and 272 men.

We are grateful for your donations of cash and use it to purchase meat, eggs, and milk. The sale of the aluminum cans allows for additional purchases so we can  maintain our focus on healthy food choices for adults and especially for children. Thank You!

Please bring your food donations and aluminum cans to Mass at any one of our three parish sites on Sundays or to the Food Pantry at Holy Assumption on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday afternoons after December 10th since we are closed the week of December 2nd - 6th.

    With gratitude for your support,
